Artist's Description
This is my complex original oil painting of a major eruption of Kilauea volcano at Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii. Kilauea is the most active volcano on earth.
It is night; lava and rock are shooting into the sky and lava pours into the sea. I have painted a dynamic underwater scene as well.
I have seen all this sea life scuba diving on Hawaii except, fortunately, for the tiger shark in the background! In addition, I have painted my own portrait as the man in the moon!
This art would fit many home and workplace decors and make a great gift!
About Jerome Stumphauzer
I am a self-taught artist and have been painting in oils for many years. At the same time my photography has developed following the same principles of composition and color. Much of my work has a "save the environment" theme and my inspiration comes from nature and visions of light and color. My interest in art began in the 5th grade with a remarkable teacher who, along with all the other subjects, made time for art and music every day. I am influenced by a diverse group of artists who have come before me -- from da Vinci and Dali to Monet and Lassen. This website has helped me reach an audience all over the world.
